Honoring Community Champions: Ashley for the Arts Recognizes Annual Award Recipients
2026 Recipients of “Humanitarian” and “Patron of the Arts” Awards Announced
ARCADIA, Wis. – Each year, Ashley for the Arts recognizes individuals and organizations whose contributions to the community embody the event’s mission of “Showcasing the Arts. Supporting Humanity.” As part of the 2026 event, Ashley for the Arts is proud to honor the Trempealeau County American Legion with the Humanitarian Award and Joel Hennessy with the Patron of the Arts Award for their lasting impact throughout the local region.
“As we reflect on the continued growth and impact of Ashley for the Arts, we are proud to recognize the people and organizations whose contributions extend far beyond our event,” stated Cole Bawek, Event Director, Ashley for the Arts. “The Humanitarian and Patron of the Arts awards are our way of expressing gratitude to those whose dedication goes above and beyond, leaving a lasting legacy of service, leadership and community impact.”
The Humanitarian Award honors individuals and organizations whose contributions leave a lasting mark on the communities they serve. Following a nomination and selection process, the Trempealeau County American Legion was chosen as the 2026 recipient.
The Trempealeau County American Legion serves as an umbrella organization supporting multiple posts throughout surrounding region. Through veteran advocacy, military honors, youth programs, community events and volunteer service, the organization has made a meaningful difference throughout the county while demonstrating a commitment to those who have served our country.
Beyond their service to veterans and local communities, the legion has been a longtime supporter of Ashley for the Arts and its mission. Members have played an active role in the annual event, additionally contributing their time to events held throughout the year at Soldiers Walk Memorial Park and at special events across the local community. Their continued partnership and dedication have helped strengthen the connection between Ashley for the Arts and the communities it serves.
The Trempealeau County American Legion will be recognized for exemplifying the values of generosity, patriotism and volunteerism with the Humanitarian Award. The award will be presented on the Main Stage during Ashley for the Arts on Friday, August 7 before a performance from Gene Simmons Band at 6:45 PM.
Ashley for the Arts also presents the Patron of the Arts Award, recognizing individuals and organizations whose extraordinary support enriches the arts. This year, Joel Hennessy is honored for his commitment to community service and his belief in the arts’ power to inspire, connect and strengthen communities.
A passionate advocate for community development, Joel has dedicated his career to building opportunities that bring people together and strengthen local communities. Notably, he founded The Crossings Center, a gathering place in Lewiston, MN that serves youth, families and veterans while encouraging community engagement and artistic expression. Joel also had a hand in establishing Veteran’s Memorial Park, connecting the region with cultural experiences and activities.
Joel has championed many local initiatives, securing more than $26 million for community-focused projects, creating opportunities for local arts and charitable organizations to thrive. Throughout the years, he has managed philanthropic portfolios and helped advance nonprofit missions by establishing sustainable support systems that allow for expanded programming and access to arts and cultural experiences.

Ashley for the Arts is a nonprofit initiative that provides the entire family with world class entertainment, art, exercise and family fun for a remarkably low cost.
